Following on Friday

Happy Friday, everyone! Welcome to another hop-tastic Friday.
The awesome Jennifer from Crazy-for-Books hosts this one. And she's got another question for us this week:

Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?

I don't use a rating system. I've honestly thought about giving it a try though. Perhaps I'll use ninja throwing stars or something to be my stars :). But I go back and forth on the use of a rating system. Sometimes I worry that if someone scans a review and all they see are the three stars I gave a book, then they may write it off all together. And this could easily happen with a book that they would have loved otherwise.

And, of course, there is the issue of boiling the whole book down into a teeny tiny category. I think I'd just be really bad at the whole rating system. Maybe I'll give it a go sometime soon and see how it goes. I used to rate things on Amazon or wherever, but that seemed so easy, ya know? What are your thoughts on the issue?

How many blogs do you follow?

Oh dear. The answer to this one is just... too many. Google reader tells me that I follow 774 blogs. Yeesh. No wonder I can never catch up!! Keep in mind, though, that not all of these are book bloggers. I follow a few people I know, some comics, and other just kinda "fun stuff." Goodness, now I wanna know how many other people follow... is mine a lot?

How many books do you have on your 'to be read shelf’?

This answer is fairly depressing for me. I wish I had a shelf. Really, I do. But it's more like piles. Let me go count.... I'm gonna round it to 30. That's not including ones that are coming out soon and will take a higher place than some of the stuff sitting there. Oh, and some of those books are graphics - which are so much faster and less daunting to start. :)

Is it Friday Already?!?

I honestly can't believe it's Friday again! But today is even more exciting because my vacation from work officially starts tomorrow (or late tonight after I get off work). So exciting!! But what's also exciting is hopping around the blogosphere and seeing all the wonderful new people out there! Welcome to my blog and I look forward to hearing from you all! :) On to the hops...

RIGHT THIS INSTANT, WHAT BOOK ARE YOU DYING TO GET YOUR HANDS ON (PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE)?

The one I'm most excited about is Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. If you haven't read the Hunger Games series, you seriously need to look into it immediately. This third book comes out August 24 and I absolutely cannot wait!
I'm also excited about Torment by Lauren Kate. I loved Fallen, so hopefully this one will stand up to it! This one comes out September 14. Soooo far away!

And just to throw this out there, I have a list on my blog (it's linked at the top called "Hot New Titles") of all the YA books that are coming out in the next, like, year. I say all, but it's really not complete. But it's a good place to check to see the upcoming releases! Just sayin. :)

It's Friday Again!

These Fridays seem to be getting closer and closer, don't they?? So, we're back with more following fun. First up... the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-For-Books!

This week's question: Tell us about some of your favorite authors and why they are your favorites!

I have to admit that this one is kinda hard to narrow down. But I'll sure try:
1. Libba Bray - I have loved absolutely everything she's written so far. I'm constantly handing her books to unsuspecting teens and they're getting a treat!
2. James Patterson (YA) - I know this is a stock answer, but there really is something about his Maximum Ride series that has me hooked. He's always good for a fun ride (at least his books are. ahem).
3. Scott Westerfeld - It all started with his Uglies series and just keeps growing from there. I think I'd read anything he writes.
4. Richelle Mead - Vampire Academy. Need I say more??
5. Lisi Harrison - She is slowly becoming one of my favorites. I haven't read the Clique series, but everything else has been so much fun! I'm especially loving the Alphas series. She's very clever and I look forward to more of her writing.
